Automotive
Supplier Drives with Optimized Engineering Practices
A leading tier 1 supplier of high quality electro-mechanical
components to major automotive OEMs turned to Metafore
for help in improving existing engineering practices,
processes, and procedures to get ready for a planned
PLM evaluation and implementation.
Metafore analyzed the existing situation and provided
detailed recommendations for relevant best practices,
enhanced procedures, and optimized processes together
with a prioritized plan for their implementation. With
the new best practices in place and the optimized processes
implemented and enabled with PLM, Metafore determined
that the company could achieve engineering
efficiency and productivity improvements of up to 30%.
Aerospace
Supplier Seeks New Productivity Heights with PLM
A leading supplier of aviation fuel and liquid
natural gas delivery systems turned to Metafore for assistance
in evaluating and selecting a PLM system to improve operational
efficiencies and reduce overall project execution time
and costs.
Using proven tools and methodologies,
Metafore’s
PLM experts guided the client through the entire evaluation
process. They interviewed all stakeholders to identify
relevant business needs, defined a detailed application
requirements matrix, developed a comprehensive request
for proposal (RFP), and created business relevant use
cases for the system benchmarks and a subsequent pilot
operation. Metafore helped the client to review and evaluate
the vendor proposals for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness
of the quoted scope and price, and assisted the client’s
PLM Team in the assessment of the various system benchmarks.
Based on the vendors’ technical responses, their
proposals, the benchmark results and reference visits,
Metafore helped the client’s PLM team to select
the system that best met the company’s long-term
needs.
High-Tech Company Accelerates Growth
with Enterprise PLM Solution
Facing an unprecedented increase in demand for
their products, a leading manufacturer of in-flight entertainment
systems brought in Metafore to assist in the rapid evaluation
and implementation of an enterprise-wide PLM solution that
would enable the company to keep up with soaring order
volumes, drive innovation, increase the re-use of existing
components, increase productivity, improve quality, ensure
regulatory compliance, and meet shorter customer delivery
schedules.
Metafore analyzed the needs of all
parts of the organization, defined detailed application
requirements, reviewed potential solutions together
with the client, created a comprehensive implementation
plan with timelines and internal and external resource
requirements. Further Metafore optimized existing practices
and processes to fully utilize the system capabilities.
Thereafter Metafore’s PLM application engineers
installed and configured the selected PLM application,
integrated existing MCAD, ECAD, and ERP systems, trained
system administrators and users, and deployed the system
company wide. The functionality included document management,
CAD data management, configuration/BOM management, change
management, quality management, program/project management,
supplier collaboration, and an integration to the existing
ERP system. With Metafore’s help the system
was evaluated in just 2 months and implemented in only
4 months on time and within budget.
Piping Systems Manufacturer Surges with Custom
Product Configurator
A global manufacturer of metal and plastic piping systems
involved Metafore to assist in finding a solution to
address the increasing configuration complexities of
their custom products. Already a user of PLM, the company
was looking for a broader utilization of this technology
and asked Metafore to analyze and develop a solution
for a custom product configurator based on the existing
PLM system.
Metafore identified the business
needs and requirements of the engineering and sales
organizations with regards to configuring customer
specific products and analyzed the functional capabilities
and suitability of the existing PLM tool. Metafore
then developed three concepts with varying levels of
functionality, all using largely the available out-of-the-box
functionality of the existing PLM system. Metafore
projected that – depending
on the selected concept – the company could reduce
product configuration efforts between 25% and 60% and
break even in only 2 – 4 months.
